Christians - So, Jesus nailed that bad old law to the cross?

Are you sure that it was not the penalty for breaking the law that was nailed to the cross?

Here, take another look. Now, tell me which Commandment is bad for us to obey or that we should not obey?

1. You shall not worship any other God

2. You shall not make a graven image.

3. You shall not take the name of God in vain.

4. Remember to keep the Sabbath

5. You shall not dishonor your parents.

6. You shall not murder.

7. You shall not commit adultery

8. You shall not steal.

9. You shall not lie.

10. You shall not covet.Christians - So, Jesus nailed that bad old law to the cross?
Of course it was the penalty for not being able to keep them, not the laws themselves. The laws are good. They are perfect and show us how God wants us to live.

Anyone who thinks that Jesus died so that we can break God's commands and not worry ';cuz its under the blood'; should read Rom. 8:1-4. Before I read it, let me remind us of a biblical definition of sin: (1 Jn. 3:4) Everyone who commits sin, also breaks the law; sin IS the breaking of law.';

Rom. 8:1,2:';Therefore no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus because the spirit's law of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.'; (We were previously under the law of sin and death. What law is that? Is Paul calling God's moral laws the law of sin and death. No, the law of sin and death means ';the absolute truth that if we continue in sin it leads to death.'; So in Christ Jesus we are set free from a life of sinning that leads to death. What set us free from this way of living? Another law - the truth that as we live IN CHRIST JESUS, following his spirit (in contrast to living in our flesh following our own desires) he will lead us away from sin (which is law breaking) and death and will lead us into life.

Continuing, Rom 8:3:';What the law could not do since it was limited by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending his own Son in flesh like ours under sin's domain, and as a sin offering.....'; (The law could never produce righteousness in us since we were dead, living in our sinful flesh. Now notice the result of Jesus' sin offering in the next verse)

Rom. 8:4: (sending his own Son...as a sin offering) ';in order that the law's requirement WOULD BE ACCOMPLISHED IN US (or fulfilled in us) who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.'; (Did that just say that God sent his Son to be a sin offering for us so that we no longer have to be concerned about obeying His laws? This is what many many Christians seem to believe. But read it again: so that THE LAW'S REQUIREMENTS MIGHT BE FULFILLED, or ACCOMPLISHED IN US (who are no longer living in our sinful flesh that could never ever keep God's laws, but now living in Christ Jesus as He leads us into all his ways as we listen to His Spirit who lives within us)!!!!Christians - So, Jesus nailed that bad old law to the cross?
It was the penalty of sin that was death nailed to the cross. That's why we are no longer under the law of sin and death but under the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

All the laws and the prophet are fulfilled in one commandment that is, Love God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind and love your neighbor as yourself.

If you are in Jesus and the Spirit of Christ is in you you will be doing this new commandment automatically because it is written in your heart.
If you need to follow the law, then that is the evidence that you have sin. There is no law against the things of the spirt. You don't need the law if you serve Christ with your mind, because when you are in Him, there is only perfection and He has fulfilled the just requirements of the law, once and for all. Christ is all that the law was meant to make a man.
Where do you get the idea that the Ten Commandments were nailed to the cross???

The Ten Commandments are carved in stone by the hand of God to stand for all time ';as contract between God and man in the walk of salvation';...if you love me keep my commandments.....

The sacrificial laws/ what went on in the temple for thousand of years, the sacrificial lamb....that whole system of sacrifice and atonement was nailed to the cross because Christ is the sacrificial lamb....

need a good Bible study....asap...

and some people seem to think that the dietary and health laws, where nailed to the cross also....

it was a cross of salvation not a clothes line of this and and that...pork chops and shell fish where not made clean by the cross.....
jesus nailed the thought to be justified in the eyes of God I have to keep every single precept of the mosaic law. That includes circumcision and going to every feast and to go to every holy sabbath, to offer every sacrifice required under the law.

we are not justified by doing every commandment of the law.

we are justified by faith in jesus.

Tit 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Gal 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
You are quite correct, which is why the catholic church(es)-- to include the orthodox catholics-- the anglicans, and a majority of protestants recognize that what Jesus came to abolish were the laws of man which had been added by the Sanhedron, and not the laws of God which are very much still in effect.

Ultimately, however, the new covenant is different from the old covenant. The commandments fall outside of that, but the dietary restrictions are no longer required under the new covenant (this is not to say that old covenant peoples, such as the Jews, are NOT to follow their covenant, which is still valid but fulfilled, but rather that those particular restrictions are not required for those who have accepted the new covenant).
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven
This is what the Scripture tells us:

Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Addition: ****************************************鈥?br>

The ';penalty for sins' was paid for at the Cross, but the law, by which we would have never KNOWN sin (Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.), was NAILED there as well. That is what the verse SAYS, and is what it means.

Those handwritten ordinances were none other than the ten commandments. God says He took it out of the way, nailing it to the Cross.

The purpose of the law was NEVER to make a man righteous, but to show man his inability to meet Gods standard of 100% sin free from the cradle to the grave based on performance. We are made right with God thru trusting Christs performance on the Cross, and NOT our own performance which has already been found ';wanting.';

NO man will ever be justified by obeying the law, or the ten commandments. Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

The ten commandments is NOT the rule of life that we are to be living by today. It was given to the Nation of Israel to prove a point.

We are to live by faith in what God has said is the ONLY way to be reconciled to Him, and its by the Crosswork of Christ, NOT by obeying any commandments.

i really do notunderstand what you are asking. we are to follow all of them. i cannot identify the one you arent supposed to follow because there isnt one. what are you asking exactly?
it was just a fairy tale story. It didn't even happen

about me and my Atheist music

http://www.myspace.com/charliecheckm
i think your partly right .. the law is meant to be followed .. Jesus said He didnt come to do away with it .. and i think that thing that you allow, well, your missing out on some blessing because of it ..
well if you are a christian then surely you shud obey all of them!?

use your f*kin brain please! IT IS THERE FOR A REASON!

they are there to be followed! thats why god said them!

pick me for best answer
The laws are still in effect.....Jesus died as the sacrifice because we are always breaking them.
huh?

Christ did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. Other than that, no comprende.
WHEN YOUR BURNING IN HELL YOULL REALIZE!
... do you know the difference between MOSES and JESUS?
Or.... we could try not getting our Bible stories mixed up.
Why do you think that Jesus was whipped or flogged by his fellow Jews and then turned over to the Romans to die in humility?

Was he not the One who said not even the least stroke of pen shall by any means stricken out of the law? If he said that, what authority does he have to nail or change the law?

In the Book of Samuel, God promised David for whoever will take David's throne, God will treat him like a Son and He will be his Father, not only because he is David's son whom He treated that way but if God sees that he who inherited David's kingship will not obey His laws, he will be flogged by his own men.*

Note: * Those were not the exact words but the meaning is right on target. See 2 Samuel 7:14-15 on that promise.
the penalty for sin or breaking the law is death. when Jesus died, death was taken away but only if you believed that Jesus was the Son of God and had faith in Christ and repented or ask God to change you.

Jesus is now God the Son. Jesus has been since the foundations of the earth so who do you think moses was talking to on the mount? the word God is a title not a name and now there is God the Father and God the Son. there can be many gods for if you put someone or something in your life above all else it is your god. by the way the word Elohim is a plural of God or Gods. a title. Jesus was without sin and sacrificed everything so all could be saved from death and then was given all authority over heaven and earth by His Father.

we should not make images that represent God or evil

we should not say we know Jesus if we do not for then you have taken His name and made it useless in your life

sabbath means to rest and now Jesus is my rest or sabbath and i keep Jesus my rest in my heart.

the rest are under do unto others as you would have others do unto you

so we should keep all ten but that is impossible so Jesus took my penalty from me.

Peace!!
The penalty, the handwriting against us %26amp; the curse of the law is what

was nailed to the cross NOT the Torah/Law %26amp; 10 Commandments.

The Law is good just %26amp; right.

Read Deuteronomy 28:15-68 to get an idea of what was the curse of

not keeping the Law, the penalty %26amp; handwriting against us.

ITS NOT THE 10 COMMANDMENTS thats for sure.

Here are some penalties/curses %26amp; they are definitely inforce to this day

Cursed in the city, %26amp; in the field.

You become engaged to a wife, but another man lies with her.

You build a house but do not dwell in it, you plant a vineyard, but do not use its fruit.

Your ox is slaughtered before your eyes, but U do not eat of it.

The stranger among U rises higher %26amp; higher %26amp; U become lower %26amp;

lower. He lends to U bu U do not lend to him. He is the Head %26amp; U are

the Tail.

Because U did not serve YHWH your Elohim with joy %26amp; gladness of

heart for all the plenty, U shall serve your enemies, that YHWH sends

against U.

That is just a sampling %26amp; U may say this is what happened to the Jews

But it was spoken to 12 Tribes of Israel %26amp; a mixed multitude %26amp; where

are those people today. Just look around you %26amp; see that these very

same things are happening in many countries in the world %26amp; the US

is a prime example.

Who is the Tail, who is serving their enemies, worshipping idols %26amp;

here is a good one :) Deut 28:67

In the morning U say Oh that it were evening %26amp; in the evenimng U say

Oh that it was morning! Because of the fear of your heart............

NOW its no good saying this will not happen to us, its already going

on %26amp; many Words in the Scriptures have dual fulfillments.

READ them all these are the ordinances against us, the penalty of

not obeying the Law, the curse that Y'shua died to take away, yes we

are saved. Deut 29:9 Therefore U shall guard the words of this covenant

%26amp; do them so U will propser in all that U do.

Don't tell me that the US has not suffered as a consequence of throwing out the 10 Commandments, Just LOOK at the mess today.

ALL 10 are to be obeyed, including the SABBATH DAY!
