How can the Law of God be nailed to the cross if Jesus said . . . ?

';till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.'; (Mt 5:18) Has heaven and earth passed away? Has everything prophised to happen in Scripture happened? If not, then how do you justify that the very same Law that Jesus is refering to is now done away with by being nailed to the cross (Colossians 2:14)?

Also, please see my blog lessons: http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-waFeix0hd鈥?/a>How can the Law of God be nailed to the cross if Jesus said . . . ?
The Lord has spoken exactly thus (excerpt):

';';';I do not change...I am the same yesterday, today and all tomorrows to come. What I have written let no man change. Rather, follow Me as I have said and not as you would have Me say. Keep the Father鈥檚 commandments, as He had written them in stone by His own finger...in number, ten. Keep them all, remember them all, and do them according to how they are written, not as man has rewritten them, and it shall be credited unto you for righteousness. I have freed you from the curse of the Law; I have not freed you from obedience to the Law. Rather, I have given you the means, by My own Spirit, to keep the Law. Oh beloved, why do you not understand My speech? Why do you not love Me? Why have you lost the desire to follow Me? My love has not changed, yet you have changed, becoming lords unto yourselves. Beloved, keep what the Father has given you...stop desecrating His Sabbaths! The Law stands forever, and all that is contained therein also stands. Even from Sabbath to Sabbath, in the Kingdom, shall the nations come up to Jerusalem and worship Me.';';'; ~ YahShua (Jesus)How can the Law of God be nailed to the cross if Jesus said . . . ?
Yes indeed everything has been fulfilled and this is exactly what Jesus said.

Mat. 5: 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

ALL The Law is fulfilled.

Report Abuse

Good question. It seems to me that Christians have managed to talk themselves into believing the opposite of what their gospel actually teaching.

Don't forget the next verse either...

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
You are ignoring the context, esp. verse 17. Jesus refers to the ';law or the prophets.';

There are no laws codified in the prophets where they could be either fulfilled or destroyed.

The only thing in the law and prophets with the potential to be fulfilled or destroyed are prophesies.

The English does a poor job of handling the transition between vv 17 and 18. Jesus came and fulfilled what was written of him in the law and the prophets; similarly everything eschatalogically will be fulfilled before heaven and earth pass away.

Your take actually declares that, once everything has been done and heaven and earth pass away, so too passes this law that your ilk insists is eternal, etc.

.
A PART of the law was nailed to the Cross.

But which part ?

What was Jesus ? -

Jesus was the ';Sacrificial Lamb that takes away the sins of the world';

And as the ';Sacrificial Lamb'; the ONLY part of the law He fulfilled was the ';Sacrificial Law';

To emphasize this, God ripped the curtain in the Temple from the top down.

If anyone tries to say anything different - they are 'preaching another gospel'

May God bless you as you study His Word

%26lt;:)))%26gt;%26lt;
Reading the entire chapter you will find that Jesus fulfilled the law.

The law is not destroyed but is indeed fulfilled in that those who accept the atonement of Jesus Christ are by faith made new no longer under the law but new creatures made in agreement with the righteousness of God.

Gal.3: 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

It is through the law we relaize our sin and know our need for God and our need for a Savior.

The law has not made one man righteous but through the law we see our need and accept by faith the atonement of Jesus Christ.

It is by faith in Jesus Christ we are made new and through his righteousness we are joined to God for eternal life.

I am sorry but you are mistaking the meaning of the Sabbath for the law of the Sabbath.

It would be like considering the sacrifices as only a law without the understanding of what the sacrifces represent.

The Sabbath is much greater than simply a Mosaiac law.

The Sabbath is God's rest and we that enter it receive his rest.

This we receive by faith through Jesus Christ.

Mat.11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

The Sabbath is more than simply one day of the week.

God did not rest because he became tired.

God rested for our salvation.

Romans 9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.

Mat. 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect鈥檚 sake those days shall be shortened.

The literal law is fulfilled by Jesus.

It through his atonement we are by faith made new through his righteousness.

No longer under the law but new creatures.

These laws are the shadows of the coming of Christ,

Clean and unclean and Sabbaths and sacrifces.

Col.2: 16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

This I say by faith we are made new because we have not literally died and bee born again but by faith we reckon oursleves dead to sin and resurrected in the resurrection of Christ.

Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

This day of salvation this day of God's rest is more than a literal day but this day we have today through faith in Jesus Christ and this day will come with his return.

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand ayears, and a thousand years as one day.

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Our Lord Jesus Christ brought to us this day of salvation and it is through him we are by faith made new and do enter his rest.

I say by faith because we are not yet literally born again and this literal day has not yet come.

The day of the lord will come with the return of Jesus who will rule the world for one thousand years.

Edit to those who believe the Sabbath is simply one day of a week...Why did Christ curse the fig tree? Are we to bear fruit in season and out of season or do we simply follow the law?

Friends if you are made new you are not under the law but freed from the law and you will bear fruit in season and out of season not because the law says so but because you are made NEW.

The Jews followed the law because they thought it was good to make them righteous they missed the spiritual meaning behind the law. The law makes no one righteous not one.

God is all knowing and foreknew man could not uphold his law...We failed. God did not give us the law to make us righteous. He gave us the law to know our sin and to see our need for a Savior. It is through Christ we can be made new through his righteousness not our own.

The law condemns us to death and Jesus brings us the resurrection.

There are wonderful truths and spiritual meanings behind the law. The law is God's righteousness not man's. It is important that we understand the meaning of the law and the meaning of the Sabbath and the sacrifices and the clean and unclean laws that represent our salvation through Jesus Christ.
The written code was those things written in the spiritual books for the covenant fulfillment was your sins I Will remember no more and they will be blotted out for Jesus' is named to save His People from their sins.

The law mentioned, therefore, in Paul is the sinful nature of the inner being as in the context of the uncircumcised hearts.

If anyone remain in Christ they are a new creation, created to bear fruit in keeping with repentance. For The Gardener will remove those branches that do not bear the fruit of love, joy, peace, suffering patience, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control. For if we feel asleep in Christ we will be Raised with Him, The Resurrection before who we must give account. The Tabernacle is sowed one way, and raised eternal. The cares of the world choke the fruit and make it to become fruitless, so that one should persist in these things that well up to eternal rewards by continuing to look intently at God's Word.
the law has not been done away with. it has been fulfilled and that is not the same as done away with. the law was never a means of salvation. never. would God give laws that if followed would bring salvation if God knew no one could do this? only Jesus was able to follow the law completely and therefore was given all authority over heaven and earth. we cannot!

the only thing that can bring salvation is faith. abraham was justified by faith not by following the law for the law had not yet been given. God called david '; a man after mine own heart';. did david follow the law completely? NO! he committed adultery and murder. but yet david was justified. why? faith! complete and sincere faith in God. the law was fulfilled with Jesus and someday it will be completed.

Peace!!
key words:

'; till all is fulfilled.';

Jesus fulfilled it (the law) all prior to His ascension

Hbr 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.

RE: your blog....no thanks
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Jesus fulfilled it when he was on the cross, when he said (it is finished) at that moment it was fulfilled.
that is not what it means when it says the law of God in that Colossians reference. THe written code it was refering to was the Jewish law in the old testament of sacrifices of animals to cover sins. Instead He died on the cross for our sins. It is saying that Jesus took the old rules and replaced them on the cross with his death for everyone.
The portion of the Law that Paul declares to have been nailed to the cross, is ';the ordinances that were against us.';

These ordinances, as applied to the Jews by the Jewish leadership, are man-made, and not from God.
Heaven %26amp; Earth have not passed away, so it safe to say the Law has not all been fulfilled, All that was nailed to the cross was the curse that

came with not doing the Law, For Y'shua became a curse for us,

cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.
The ';law'; nailed to the cross was the ';tradition of men'; in Colossians 2:8, the decrees ';hostile'; to us:

Col 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the *tradition of men*, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.

Col 2:14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of *decrees* against us and which was *hostile* to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Mark 7:9 He was also saying to them, ';You nicely set aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition.

The burden of the Pharissees:

Mat 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

John 7:19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

The Law of our Creator, the God of Israel, is NOT hostile toward us though quite the contrary:

Psa 119:165 Those who love Thy law have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble.

Psa 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Thy law is truth.

Isa 51:7 ';Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, A people in whose heart is My law; Do not fear the reproach of man, Neither be dismayed at their revilings.
Thank you for this question. First off you really have to believe in Jesus Christ with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and Jesus said unto them to love thy neighbor as thyself these are the two greatest commandments. My question to you is are you a true believer of Jesus Christ and fully committed to Him?

Then to directly address this question. You must take the entire Holy Bible into account with the help of the Holy Spirit of Almighty God. 1 Cor 12, Genesis 1:26, John 14:26; Matthew 28:18-20;Philliapians 3:3.

With these scriptures What about the vreses above them, and below them? Who was talking all the way through? What all were they talking about? What was the full context of the Chapter not simply a verse here and there. Some people will try to take the Holy Bible and make it sound the way they want it to, with a verse here and there.

This is why Jehovah Elohim, Jah, Yawhew, Jehovah Adonia, Rophi, Rophe, King of kings and Lord of lords, gave us the entire Bible from cover to cover. We are still supposed to obey the Ten Commandments, Found in two places in the old testiment. Exodus 20; and Deut. 5.

So with the love of Christ agape love, Please 2 Timothy 2:15 a little more, and always ask the Holy Spirit to help you with your studying. This is why 40 days after Jesus died and ascended to the Father He told His disciples earlier I must go to the Father so I can send you another Helper, comforter, counsler, until I return. Book of Acts among other places.

I personally have been studying the Holy Bible no less than twice a day every day for almost 5 years without much man's books in the process.

Have a blessed day in the Lord Jesus REPENT 1 John 1:9; Psalms 51-53, Revelation entire book James 5:15, Luke 9:62; Luke 6:46-49.

My god carries a hammer, yours was nailed to a cross - any questions?

lol i just read that on a t-shirt and thought it was funny. another one i like is ';solstice is the reason for the season'; oh, and ';if the broom fits, ride it';

i found those at this website after being inspired by pangels question about t-shirts http://www.cafepress.com/buy/pagan/-/sor…

do you have any cute slogans you like that pertain to your religion?My god carries a hammer, yours was nailed to a cross - any questions?
Yeah ....I was just wondering how high you'll be able to jump over the flames when your god comes after you with that hammer?My god carries a hammer, yours was nailed to a cross - any questions?
i don't know about sayings but theres a lot of smiting in there when they do talk haha
Only sheep need a shepherd.
People see humor differently and in different things. I'm sure you meant no harm, but I found the first saying offensive. The others were, OK.
This one is still circulating around the Democratic Underground site:

';Get a brain, moran!';
';I don't believe in God because

I don't believe in Mother Goose.';
Critical Thinking Saves Lives
Some that I have chuckled at are:

* Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

* It's your god. They're your rules. *You* go to hell.

* I once prayed to god for a bike, but quickly found out he didn't work that way...so I stole a bike and prayed for his forgiveness

* As Long As There Are Tests, There Will Be Prayer In Public Schools.

* You know your god is man-made when he hates all the same people you do.

I do not mean to offend anyone with these and they don't pertain to my religion =)
DAMNED, BlueManticore was faster. I meant to post those! :)

As far as the god has a hammer, and yours was nailed to a cross...but My God conquered death and Hell, so I can be saved! So My God is bigger than THAT !
Nice, I'd never heard that one before...though I had heard the other two.
don´t play with god..... was that funny???
Love it. I would wear one for sure! I've always liked the expression ';If you ask 5 Pagans the same question, you'll get 6 answers';lol. One of the best things about Pagans is how many have a great sense of humour and can joke about ourselves.

';Jesus Loves Me, But I Make Him Wear A Condom';
i think those are crap if u think there funny u need to get right with God
What you see on a t-shirt, does not make it true, I have never read where God was nailed to the cross, How can they nail a spirit, God is a spirit %26amp; always will be, God is not flesh, Jesus Christ his only Begotten Son was nailed to the cross, Jesus is the one that died, Not God, People let's get the Godhead correct. Your god may have died, but My God did not, his Son did.
Unfortunately Jesus isn't god, so that t-shirt is... stupid.
I find that quite offensive actually. It just proves the ignorance of some. Jesus Christ is NOT a Christian's god. He was our Savior. His Father is our God.
eh, your god(s) is/are just as not real as the Christian god.

EDIT

The more I think about this, the more I get upset. At first I thought ';eh, more theist propaganda.'; Now, I think this is like 6 year olds in the park ';My god can beat up your god.';

Frankly, isn't that the attitude that leads to things like holy wars and genocide? Wasn't that the attitude of the Christians who forced the conversion of Europe's pagans, the Native Americans, and started the Holy Crusades?

Nope, I don't like this attitude one bit. I don't care how many ';thumbs down'; I get. This is the kind of thing I fight against as an atheist.
YOUR GOING TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…

Is it true Jesus was not killed by man & the Romans by being nailed to the cross?

Even the Bible says that Jesus said He wasn't. But, where does it say that?Is it true Jesus was not killed by man %26amp; the Romans by being nailed to the cross?
John 10:18 No one can take my life from me. I lay down my life voluntarily. For I have the right to lay it down when I want to and also the power to take it again. For my Father has given me this command.'; NLT

John 19:10Then Pilate said to Him, ';Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?';

19:20 Then Jesus said, ';You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above. So the one who brought me to you has the greater sin.';

If this is what you are looking for?Is it true Jesus was not killed by man %26amp; the Romans by being nailed to the cross?
Are you referring to the Injeel, by any chance????

Because it's detailed in the New Testament of the Bible, with many eye witness Testaments!

The Muslim version, called the Injeel, of course, claims tha Jesus never died on the Cross!?

Pax vobiscum, pax dominic!

Simon Templar
gelfling said: ';Jesus was killed by God. John 3:16';

it means The God killed by himself...? who is the god..?

The truth is Jesus was not killed, Jesus is alive and will return to the earth and he will rule with the Qur'an, be a means whereby the Christian world turns to Islam, and will, together with the Mahdi, make Islamic moral values prevail all over the world.
The truth is He laid His life down;remember when He said no-one takes my life down I lay it down on my own accord.
wow, I am glad you brougt this out as I missed my week buying the National Enquirer..right next to big foot and the loch ness monster...thanks for the heads up!1
what it really says is that He let himself go ... but the act of being crucified is being put to death ..
Yes, its true according to Al Qur'an Allah lifted Isa son of Mariam to heaven and replaced him with a man likeness of Isa on the cross. May Allah forgive, guide you and have mercy on you, Amin.
Jesus WAS crucified, but that wasn't what killed Him. He voluntarily laid His life down, and He took it up again. It's in at least one of the gospels.
Even the bible? Where? Please quote.

Have you been reading the mad magazine?
Jesus was killed by God. John 3:16
Jesus was crucified/murdered He died and rose again on the third day. read John 19 He gave up the ghost. He Died

What jesus was it that got nailed up a cross?

I dont know if it was babby Jesus or the dad Jesus (jesus 1). My friend say it was the babby but I think it was jesus 1 not jesus 2 (his son)What jesus was it that got nailed up a cross?
It obviously wasn't babby jesus. Babby jesus was BBQed not cruxified.What jesus was it that got nailed up a cross?
Jesus Christ of Nazereth was nailed to the cross at aprox. 33 years of age.

The Bible tells of Jesus as a baby, at 12 years old and then when He began His preaching ministry.

Are you born again?

If you are not, go here: goodpersontest.com

Hang in there until the end.

First of all, Jesus was never a dad. Jesus of Nazareth, the only begotten Son of the living God Yahweh is the one who died on the cross at Calvary. Jesus, God's Son, was 33 years old when he died.
He wasn't nailed to the cross at all. When he was around 30, he was tied to a cross. They made the nails up later so that it would fit with the rest of the story...
That wasn't very good. Perhaps you might want to take a correspondence course in joke telling.
Jesus did not have a son - there was no ';Dad'; Jesus. Maybe it was your own personal Jesus...
Jesus Christ of Nazareth, he was 33.5 yrs old.
babby or BABEY. jesus was about 30 when he got nailed on the cross.
I'm with Guru22 on this one.. Not much more you can on that one... lol. There is only ONE God, and One Jesus. lol.
yes it was Jesus the Son of God.
what in the world are you talking about there is only ONE JESUS, he died on the cross to save all of our eternal souls.

Why do Christians believe that nailing on the cross symbolises crucifixion and that Jesus was crucified?

The Bible puts crucifixion as lasting for just over one week and that the victim could stay alive, nailed to the cross for up to four (4) days.

Jews were hanged in one day and were supposed to be taken down and buried the same day, before sunset, as a religious favor from the Romans, but Pilate punished the High Priest with the two thieves left on the cross for full crucifixion and onwards through the Sabbath, after he set the Christ free for his innocence and because the Romans loved that Son of their God, Zeus, although he was not a Roman.

Crucifixion ended when all of the victim's flesh was eaten off by the vultures and other scavengers, and that took a few days.

The legs had to be broken to hang the victim on the cross. If the legs were not broken the victim was not even hanged, far less crucified.

Crucifixion is extreme torture that brings out extreme pain and then death and disgrace up to burial.

The crucified was buried with only the bones and teeth left, with the two broken bones of the legs as evidence of the crucifixion.

The victim was driven to insanity before he died in the upright position on the cross at the breaking of his legs.

Crucifixion on the cross used the cruciate ligaments at the back of the knees to lock the victim in a standing position on the cross so that even if he fell unconscious, he remained on his feet.

The victim's testicles were squeezed between his locked legs and that is no joke, My Lord, My lord, The Sabbath has arrived!

This evidence is taken from the Bible.

Seeking truth is painful and is not meant for the lazy and the gullible and the less than honest.

Truth will set you free but you must painfully seek truth.

Amen!Why do Christians believe that nailing on the cross symbolises crucifixion and that Jesus was crucified?
Can you please cite where in the Bible you got this information from?Why do Christians believe that nailing on the cross symbolises crucifixion and that Jesus was crucified?
You obviously have no understanding of the Biblical account of Christ's crucifixion.
We do a lot of critical analysis when we decided to follow God.. Take some time, dear one, to do your research before asking such a question. Most of the cities mentioned in the Bible have been either excavated and found, or are still inhabited. The evidence, that he has left, would stand in any court of the law.. You can NOT say the same of your evidence.. How many eye witness accounts do you need? How many miracles do you need? The Bible has been proven to be historically accurate as well as archaeologically accurate.. ((these peoples still inhabit the lands of the bible.. This is their history)) They do and did keep records. they have genealogies, tax records, Death records, criminal records, census records, Land records and etc.. There are many writings regarding Jesus that have nothing to do with religion.. Every verse of the New Testament HAS been confirmed by secular outside, non religious sources except for 11 verses... So then It seems it pretty much stands dear one..Oh, and they ARE available.. Do some REAL research please..

Peace and blessings from Texas %26lt;%26gt;%26lt;
Because the Bible says so!

John 19:16-18

16Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

17And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

18Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

(KJV) You must have never read the Bible because the things you claim are not in it. You are obviously not seeking the truth because even a casual reading of the first four books of the New Testament would reveal the ';painful'; truth. Please find a Bible and read it!
';Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us,'; wrote Paul, ';for it is written: `Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree';' (Galatians 3:13). In this case, Paul was quoting a phrase found in Deuteronomy 21:23.

I'M NOT EVEN GOING TO ASK WHAT THE NAME OF YOUR BIBLE IS.

This evidence is taken from the Bible.

Seeking truth is painful and is not meant for the lazy and the gullible and the less than honest.

Truth will set you free but you must painfully seek truth.
We will probably never know for certain how Jesus died, but I don't know of any significant evidence that suggests otherwise.

You say that someone could survive being nailed to a cross for up to 4 days, and if Jesus died in one day, it makes sense.

Victims of Roman-style crucifixion did not necessarily have their legs broken. They died of anoxia; their muscles would cramp and their rib cage would be compressed unless pressure was applied to the impaled feet. Once the pain was too great and/or the muscles failed, the victim would slowly suffocate. Recent experiments show that the effects of anoxia occur within the first hours of crucifixion, though it was extremely slow and intended for pain.

Who knows what happened to Jesus' body? The writers of the New Testament may have said that Jesus' intact corpse was laid to rest simply to convince others of the resurrection.

It makes sense that the Romans crucified Jesus. This type of slow and painful execution would certainly discourage rebels.

    Christians - were the 10 Commandments nailed to the cross along with Jesus?

    Colossians 2:14

    14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

    Are the ';handwriting of requirements'; the 10 Commandments which were written in stone, or are they the civil and ceremonial laws that Governed Israel?

    Which, if any, of the 10 Commandments are we no longer required to obey?

    1 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

    2 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.

    3 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain

    4 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

    5 Honour thy father and thy mother.

    6 Thou shalt not kill.

    7 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

    8 Thou shalt not steal.

    9 Thou shalt not lie.

    10 Thou shalt not covet.Christians - were the 10 Commandments nailed to the cross along with Jesus?
    God never changes. None of the 10 commandments were nailed to the cross. I always understood the ceremonial laws to be nailed to the cross. God wrote the commandments in stone with His own fingers. But according to the world the 4th Commandment, the only one that starts with the word REMEMBER is the only one that people think was nailed to the cross.Christians - were the 10 Commandments nailed to the cross along with Jesus?
    Colossians is where Paul was addressing both Jewish and Gentile Christians, and he uses terms that both would understand. The Jew understood this to be the law; the old covenant. It ended upon the death of Christ, even as a marriage covenant ends upon the death of either party. All the covenant, and not just some of it. It is seen as symbolically nailed to the cross, ending with the party of the first part.
    Romans 13:8-9 (NASB) 8 Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled {the} law. 9 For this, ';YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT COVET,'; and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, ';YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.';
    The only things nailed to the cross was Jesus and a sign above his head which read INRI. The meaning and translation of this sign (placed there by the romans sarcastically) is ';Jesus of Nazarith, King of the Jews';.
    get rid of 1 and 2 also 3 not to mention 4, the rest civil law takes care of, except covert, I'm coveting a new Mac as I type.

    what's that little lamb doing in your icon clip, he's gonna get eaten, your some sick puppy.
    the sacrificial laws and requirements were nailed to the cross as Christ is our sacrificial Lamb.

    the Ten Commandments are written in stone and are valid today and forever.
    I always thought that meant the penalty for not being able to keep God's laws. Jesus took the punishment for this and for ALL our sins. But this certainly does not mean that we can now sin because Jesus took the penalty for us. Neither does it mean we don't have to follow God's moral laws.
    Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

    People may still have their holy day of the week, but it's not akin to killing, stealing, lying, etc... to do some work on it.
    Not at all. They are a schoolmaster to lead us to the cross.

    1John 3:4 says that sin is transgression of the law.

    Paul said in Romans 7:7.. I had not known sin but by the law.

    Psalm 19:7 reads...The law of the Lord is perfect at converting the sou.....%26gt;
    Our sin was nailed to the cross %26amp; the curse taken away in Messiah

    Y'shua.
    who said you could pick and choose?
    NOT AT ALL.

    God's Commandments are for the GOOD of Mankind.

    The ';Handwritten'; ordinances that ';were against us';, as shown in verse 22, are the illicitly-imposed ';Add-ons'; by the Pharisees and other FALSE teachers who took what God said and added their own twists to it.

    For example, God says to Keep His SABBATH Day HOLY. The Pharisees then added that a person could walk only so many steps on the Sabbath, and that you could not light a candle on the Sabbath, etc, etc. That's why Jesus damned them ~ just as He damns the false preachers of today.

    Such Idiotic Evil still exists in the so-called ';christian'; churches of today. GOD'S Sabbath is NOT Sunday ~ never was, and never will be. But the immoral Christianistas have changed GOD'S Day into THEIR OWN way, and they twist and tweak the Bible to make it say what they want it to say, in order to justify the tremendous amount of Evils THEY choose to do.

    Refusing to see that Christ says to FEAR God (Luke 12:5), KEEP The Commandments (Matt. 19:17; John 14:15), OBEY The Law (Luke 10:26), HEAR Moses and the Prophets (Luke 16:29), and CEASE FROM SIN (John 8:11) ~ the Swine-eating ';christians'; of today call Sunday ';the lords day';, in Blatant Disregard for what God and Christ Plainly Say...

    They illicitly manipulate the New Testament to justify their eating of ';ABOMINABLE'; SWINE ~ yet they condemn Homos to Hell for ';THEIR'; Abomination ? ! ? Get for REAL... No wonder ';christianity'; is the JOKE of the world.

    They don't even know which ';lord'; they serve (please read 1 John 3:4-10).

    And then they have the gall to BLAME IT ON CHRIST ~ because He was supposedly ';resurrected on a Sunday'; ~ as if that has anything to do with KEEPING GOD'S SABBATH.

    It's Total Insanity ~ But That's The American Way...

    Christianistas...

    Thank God For HELL...

    .
    The ten commandments have come to human being in different words by all messengers of God who were given holy books.

    From Adam, to Noah, to Ibrahim, Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them), people made adjustments to the original message (specially the first commandment to worship only one God without keeping partners with Him).

    Jesus came not to abolish law of previous prophets, but to fullfil it.

    Jeus said the doctrine he is preaching is not his, but of God who sent him.... He clearly worship God, and called one and only God as ONLY one worthy of worship.

    May God let everyone search for truth and find HIM.

    God is not cruel to send us to earth and test us without a clear, unchanged, and true message available on earth.

    Todays' christians beliefs like trinity, respect to gays rights, adultry etc are proof that true message of God was lost in original, and in practice, until God sent His last messenger Mohammad (pbuh) and revealed all true stories of previous prophets. Gave a clear guideline to human beings to follow a life to earn paradise. Provided dozens of scientific proofs for intelligent, which are being discovered until this century.

    The only book which has not been changed to the extent of even one word is Quran. Worth a read.

    Offcouse there are solid reasons why priests, ministers and harvard educated people of divinity are reverting to original message of Moses and Jesus.

    GOD IS ONE, HE HAS NO PARTERNS, NO SON, NO FATHER, NO DAUGHTER, NO MOTHER. HE IS THE CREATOR NOT A CREATION.
    Yes and I am glad you read the Bible for yourself and came to that conclusion, but the fact is most of those comandments were carried over into the New Testament as well and had an even better understanding Ex:';thou shalt not comit adultery'; people actually thought the act of intercourse was commiting adultery but Christ came along and taught whoever looks upon a woman/man with lust in their hearts commits adultery. The old law kept the Sabbath day, and that was taken away and the Lords day took it's place (Sunday) this is when all Christians came together to worship in the New Testament. Think about it if we were still under the old law we would still be sacrificing animals, the Jews would still be God's chosen people, along with other things so to make a long story short the Old law served it's purpose and the New law was made for Christians. Also read Mar 2:21 %26amp; Hbr 8:13.

    Most importantly read Rom 3:4. Continue to search the scriptures my friend.
    How can the commandments of the Torah which give His people ';life'; possibly be ';against and contrary'; to us as stated in Colossians.

    Deu 30:19 ';I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you *life* and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,

    Deu 30:20 by loving YHVH your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for *this is your life*

    Mat 19:17 And He said to him, ';Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to *enter into life, keep the commandments*.';

    I believe it is the ';empty deception'; and the ';tradition of men'; that are contrary and against us nailed to the stake:

    Col 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.
    The Law was complete with Jesus on the cross. So we don't observe any of those by law.

    Love God with all your heart and sould

    and love your neighbors as yourself

    by this is fullfilled all the law and the prophets

    Matthew 22: 37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[d] 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

    Our new motivation is love.

    Obedience.....from love or duty?

    No. We are no longer subject to the law of sin and death.

    2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

    Romans 8:
    The answer to your question is confusing to many. Christians believe in doing the 'works' that God has ordained for us to do. We do not boast of these 'works' Rather, we give all Praise and Glory to Christ Jesus for enabling us to do His 'works'... Our 'works' apart from the direction of God, apart from the Holy Spirit, are meaningless to God, they are but filthy rags before Him. The 'Key' is who is given honor for the 'works' we do. First we are found righteous because we heard and believed, not because of what we had done. Works cannot lead us to God, faith leads us to God and 'works' come about through faith and obedience to Gods Word.

    Give God the Glory for the 'works' He enables us to perform in order to further His kingdom.

    Many misunderstand and say that Christianity is void of 'works'

    When actually, Christianity is void of human 'works' and prefers to carry out the 'works' of Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

    The difference is 'Flesh' verses ';Spirit'

    If God is putting it on your heart to take care of the elderly, yet you choose to work in a soup kitchen, you dishonor God and His blessings will not be upon you or your ministry. They both may be good deeds, but God only acknowledges the good deeds He has prepared for each one of us to do, in order to further His kingdom on this earth.

    Works do not lead to salvation, they are the results of salvation.
    I know that I'm still not allowed to covet my neighbor's áss. Which is a shame, because he's got a bloody nice one.

    How could God do away with the very Law that helps in converting the soul? Psalms 19:7.

    How could God abolish the Law that helps a sinner to realise his need? When a sinner realises that death is the penalty for transgression, and in sorrow he comes to God for forgiveness, he receives a pardon through Jesus. That pardon is Grace. Would God abolish the very Law that Christ died for to make it possible to give grace to the sinner? If God abolished His Law there would be no transgression and therefore no need of forgiveness or grace. Grace is not something apart from the Law; it is necessary. Paul said to the Christians: “you are not under the law but under grace.” Romans 6:14. Then he said, “shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? God forbid.” Verse 15. In Galatians 3:21 Paul says “the law is not against the promises of God.” How could God abolish His Law and thus do away with Grace too?

    How could God abolish the Sabbath when Jesus said: “It is easier for Heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the Law to fail?” Luke 16:17.

    How could God abolish the Ten Commandments, or Moral Law, at the same time that He abolished the ceremonial law which had to do with the offerings and sacrifices? Ephesians 2:15; Colossians 2:14-17. The Hand writing of Ordinances are not the Ten Commandments. The ceremonial law was instituted to show the people what to do when they broke the Moral Law. By their sacrifices they could show their faith in the great sacrifice which was to be offered on Calvary. All the Sacrifices and offerings pointed forward to Christ. When Jesus died the veil in the temple was rent signifying that the sacrificial or Ceremonial law had ended. Many people confuse the Ceremonial and Moral laws.

    How could God abolish the Law that has the Sabbath command in it when God Himself ceased from labour and rested on the seventh day, and your Bible says that all who have entered into rest (spiritual rest too) with Him, have ceased from their own works as God did from His? Hebrews 4:4, 9-10. Read and re-read those two verses.

    How could God do away with the very Law that His people are to keep in order to have works to show their faith? James 2:18. Read carefully James 2:10-12. The “works” here referred to are works of obedience as the verses plainly indicate. Paul says: “Do we make void the Law through faith? God forbid, we establish the Law.” Romans 3:31.

    How could God do away with the Ten Commandments that Jesus referred to when He said “whosoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven?” Matthew 5:19.

    How could God do away with the Ten Commandments, the same Ten Commandments that Jesus said hung on the two Great Commandments of Love to God and Love to Man? Matthew 22:35-40. The first four Commandments show our relation to God; the last six show our relation to Man. Thus they all hang on the two principles of love to God and to man.

    How could God make void His Law when Jesus condemned the Scribes and Pharisees for making void the Law of God by their tradition? Matthew 15:3, 6, 9.

    How could God do away with His Commandments after promising peace and righteousness in abundance to those who “listened to His Commandments?” Isaiah 48:18.

    How could God abolish the Sabbath Commandment when He gave the Sabbath to be a sign that He is our God? Ezekiel 20:20; Exodus 31:16-17. The New Covenant was made with the children of Israel which if we be Christ’s then we are. Hebrews 8:10. He is not a Jew which is one outwardly, but he is a Jew who is one inwardly and so if we are God’s children then we are Abraham’s seed and therefore children of Israel and heirs according to the promise. Romans 2:28-29; Galatians 3:28-29.

    How could God abolish His Commandments which are called righteousness, Psalms 119:172 and also, “My Righteousness shall not be abolished?” Isaiah 51:6. He also said, “Listen unto me you that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is My Law.” Isaiah 51:7.

    How could God abolish His Law after making the statement that some of the people would stop their ears and make their hearts like stone so they would not hear His Law? Zechariah 7:11-12.

    How could God do away with His Law after making the statement that the people have trespassed against His Law, and have “sown the wind and shall reap the whirlwind?” Hosea 8:1-7.

    How could God abolish the Ten Commandments which are the test by which we know that we know God? 1 John 2:3.

    How could God abolish His Commandments and then later have John write that the man who claims to know God and does not keep God’s Commandments, is a liar? 1 John 2:4.

    How could God abolish His Law and the Sabbath after He says the “Priests have violated His Law and have hid their eyes from His Sabbath, and have showed no difference between the holy and the profane?” Ezekiel 22:26.

    How could anyone accuse God of changing or abolishing His own perfect Law when the Prophet saw a PERSECUTING POWER that would think to change it? Daniel 7:25. Read about the four beasts and the little “horn.” Daniel 7:1-8. Read verse 23-fourth kingdom (Rome). The Little horn represents a religious power that started in Rome and in 321AD they changed God’s Sabbath to Sunday. A fact unknown by many Christians today. Now read verse 25 again.

    How could God have abolished His Commandments when it says that the last or remnant people of God will be keeping the Ten Commandments just before Jesus comes to gather the harvest of the earth? Read carefully Revelation 12:17 and Revelation 14:12-16.

    How could God abolish His Commandments and also promise that in the New Earth His People will be keeping the Sabbath? Isaiah 66:22-23. The Sabbath Command is in the centre of His Law. The Sabbath is God’s Mark or Sign of His Power and authority as the Creator. Exodus 20:8-11. The Sabbath has always been God’s test of obedience. Exodus 16:4, 23, 26-28. God’s Law is in His Heart. May we never wound His heart of love and insult His Grace. If God has abolished His Law then hundreds of texts in your Bible become meaningless and should be left out, for example:

    All the texts that mention or refer to the Law.

    All the texts that mention the Commandments of God.

    All the texts that speak of SIN. (Sin is the transgression of the Law. 1 John 3:4).

    All the texts that speak of obedience.

    All the texts that speak of transgression.

    All the texts that speak of repentance.

    All the texts that speak of Jesus as the Saviour from sin. etc, etc.

    If God has abolished any part of His Law then texts that speak of The Law as Perfect, Holy, Unchangeable, etc., become meaningless. “Not one tittle of the Law shall fall.” If we offend in one point of the Ten Commandments we are guilty of all. See James 2:10-12 and Matthew 5:17-19.If The Ten Commandments have been abolished or Jesus nailed them to the cross, then how could?
    Wow, you have alot of time on your hands to write that.

    Jesus Christ did not do away with the law; not even close.

    3 parts to the law; Morality, Civility %26amp; Sacrifice. Jesus was THE sacrifice once and for all but morality %26amp; civility are still in play.

    Jesus simply took the 10 commandments %26amp; brought them down to 2 [known as the Golden Rule]

    36';Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?'; 37Jesus replied: '; 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[a] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[b] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.';

    Matthew 26.

    Loving God %26amp; People inculdes the other 8; if you love God you'll keep His commands. Not coveting, murdering etc etc

    The law is still in play %26amp; more so... now we can't just commit adultery, we can't commit it in our hearts either. Everything hangs on those two.

    The law is still in play; we just have grace now also, [not law vs grace as many think]If The Ten Commandments have been abolished or Jesus nailed them to the cross, then how could?
    The law is a mirror it tellss you where you stand before Our Maker.It does not save you. For all sinners have brocken the law. .

    All Jesus did was sum up all Ten Commandments together.. When you follow both of these Commandments then you obey all Ten Commandments. If you love the Lord your God..

    These Commandments were never removed, replaced, nor will they ever be.. (Luke 16:17)

    what do you honestly expect pple to read that phrase that better
    Ah... the shotgun approach. I'm supposed to address each one of these, and all that you have to do is conclude I am wrong by your own standard, thereby doing away with everything.

    So I'll just ask you one question for you to answer.

    Can you be held to the conditions of a covenant / contract you were never a party to?

    No, you can't.

    And never mind what was concluded in Acts 15, you are greater than the original apostles.

    Much of what you wrote shows your confusion over the law of Moses and the actual law of God as brought out by the apostle Paul in Romans 7 and 8. The law of the Spirit is what is perfect and eternal. The law of the letter was flawed, according to Hebrews 8. A good example is Mt. 19 and the issue over divorce as found in the law, that was a concession because of the hardness of their hearts. But in the beginning, IT WAS NOT SO.

    But if you want to live by the law, by all means do so. Keep every point of law, and don't forget-- if you break even one point, you are guilty of all, and you can't sacrifice Christ daily.

    You are under a curse, and your chances of getting out from under that curse is not very likely.

    If you want to discuss each of these points individually, I will do so.

    Oh... don't forget... you can sell your daughters into slavery. You can pick up some extra cash that way.

    A little rebuttal:

    If The Ten Commandments have been abolished or Jesus nailed them to the cross, then how could?

    a perfect God (Matthew 5:48) do away with a perfect Law? Psalms 19:7.

    Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

    Because this law being referenced is not the law God gave to Israel. That law was not perfect, and converted no one. The N.T. brings out this “law” is God's Spirit, placed in the believer, that converts the soul.

    How could a Holy God (Isaiah 6:3) do away with a Holy Law? Romans 7:12.

    Because God replaced it with a better law with better promises. That first covenant had a glory, but its glory was fading, and compared to the new covenant, its glory is nothing by comparison. See II Cor. 3.

    How could a Righteous God (Psalms 145:17) do away with a Righteous Law? Psalms 119:172.

    And the condemnation that came with the law was just. So, you prefer condemnation?

    How could God who is unchangeable (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8) change or do away with a Law that is unchangeable? Matthew 5:17-19; Psalms 111:7-8.

    Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

    You obviously didn't bother to read the context, seeing as God, in the law, stated that if Israel broke the covenant, God would consume them. But God didn't. God didn't perform that which he stated in the law, else Israel would have been consumed. The reason God changes not here is not a matter of the law, but a matter of the promises to Abraham and the other patriarchs. So the context supports the exact opposite of what you claim. Do you understand what “context” means? You keep taking passages out of context and assigning the wrong understanding to them. Your citation of Heb. 13:8 is another good example.

    Your understanding of Mt. 5:17-19 is also flawed, as you cannot fulfill “law” in regards to the law AND the prophets. There are no laws codified in the prophets. The only thing that has the potential to be fulfilled or destroyed in the law and prophets are prophesies.

    Psalms 111:7-8 is still in relation to Israel; the ones who were given that covenant.

    Want more expose' on your ignorance?

    .
    Question too long to read. May be good but it is too early in the morning for me to read a sermon. Sorry, maybe later in the morning I will take a look at it.

    Matthew 5:17 ';Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.
    Jesus did what no man could or can. We are under Grace not law and the Bible speaks of this very thing. We are saved by faith not works for Jesus fullfilled the works. If you place your self under one part of the law you will be held to the whole law. Thus my friend I believe you are on dangerius ground and have missed the meaning of Gods words.
    You ought to ask one question at the time... A perfect God can stand some improvement, too! God makes the rules as he plays the game! God the father says ';honour thy father and thy mother';.. God the Son Jesus Christ says ';unless you HATE* *Greek=';miseo'; to abhor, hate with all your guts) your father and your mother, et al you cannot be my disciple'; -- It is all a matter of situation ethics, for Christ's sake!
    From what I understand..the LAW that was done away with was NOT the TEN COMMANDMENT ...BUT the many laws/ordinances that Moses wrote which give rules, regulations of how to keep the laws. The Ten Commandments were kept in the Arc and the ';Mosasic'; laws were kept in a pouch on the Side of the Arc. These Mosasic laws were the ones done away with..from my understanding.
    Oh boy, even as GOD, I got tired and sleepy reading all your questions, how do you expect my poor children to answer them.

    Good questions though,but give ME some time and I will confer with my favorite Son and get back to you. Promise.
    And the people of the land find that it is more civilize to do what God has commanded after all. I believed that God loved us from the beginning and the reason I think he changed the law was because he was being easy on the people. The people thought that the law was too strict to follow yet it was just to help the people not to harm them.

    IN THE NEW TESTAMENTS

    HIS COMMANDS WERE TO

    He did say LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS YOU LOVE THY SELF.

    Would you Want to be cheated on.

    Would you want someone to steal from you

    would you want to be killed.

    would you want to be lied to

    Love thy neighbor as you love thy self

    And PUT NO OTHER GODS BEFORE HIM
    Congratulations on asking a question nobody will read.
    I think you may have forgotten one or two there.
    Honestly, it would take a life-time to answer your hundreds of questions.

    IF the commandments were nailed to the cross like so many people say and we are no longer under the law, then?

    how do you explain this verse in Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who do the commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city?

    If we are no longer under the law and no longer have to keep the commandments then how can we be blessed and have the right to the tree of life?

    Or if we do have to keep the commandments, which one do we ';have'; to keep?

    Please share your insights and opinions. Provide scripture if you can.IF the commandments were nailed to the cross like so many people say and we are no longer under the law, then?
            Most people have been taught incorrectly on the issue of God's Laws. The devil, of course, is the true source of this deception that God's Laws have in any way ended, been abolished, nailed to the Cross, done away with, or fulfilled. Here is the truth of the matter:

    Psalm 89:34 ';My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.';

    Malachi 3:6 ';For I am the LORD, I change not...';

            Thus, God will not change the rules in the middle of the game. Some claim that the Seventh-day (Saturday) Sabbath commandment wasn't repeated in the New Testament. Or, they claim the Seventh-day Sabbath was just for the Jews. Such people don't have an accurate understanding of God's Word and I, therefore, encourage them to go to their knees and confess to the Holy Spirit that you need more Light and more Truth in your life. Here is that command from Jesus' own lips:

    ';If ye love me, keep my commandments.'; (John 14:15)

    ';He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.'; (John 14:21)

    ';If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.'; (John 15:10)

            Most will say, but He is not talking about the Sabbath commandment -- He is speaking of the Two Great Commandments He gave to replace the Old Testament law. My answer? A resounding, incorrect! Here is what He really said:

    ';Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law [Torah] and the prophets.'; (Matthew 22:36-40)

            (Check your favorite Bible dictionary for the meaning of that word ';law'; which I noted as standing for the entire Torah.) Now, did He say these were the ONLY two commandments? No! And did He say only the Ten Commandments hang on these two commandments? Again, No! He said ';On these two commandments hang *all* the law [Torah] *and* the prophets.'; Meaning, just for starters:

    1) If you truly love God, then you will have no other gods before Him.

    2) If you truly love God, then you will not make an idol nor worship it.

    3) If you truly love God, then you will not take God's name in vain.

    4) If you truly love God, then you will worship Him on the Seventh-day Sabbath as God has asked you to.

    5) If you truly love God, and your fellow man, then you will honor your Father (and your father and mother) all the days of your life.

    6) If you truly love your fellow man, then you will not murder one of them.

    7) If you truly love your fellow man, then you will not commit adultery with or against one of them.

    8) If you truly love your fellow man, then you will not steal from one of them.

    9) If you truly love your fellow man, then you will not lie about one of them.

    10) If you truly love your fellow man, then you will not want what your neighbor has.

            Even beyond this, God gave many Statutes in order to more fully explain just what His Ten Commandments mean. He had to do this because we humans will justify any excuse to circumvent God's Holy Law. That is why they are *all* still binding upon all mankind -- because *all* of the law *and* the prophets hang upon the Two Great Commandments Jesus iterated and told us we would keep if we love Him.

            Some further try to claim that Christ's Sacrifice fulfilled *all* of the Old Testament law. If that is true, then why were nine of the Ten Commandments explicitly repeated as being still in force in the New Testament? Also, if that is true, then why were many of God's Statutes also explicitly repeated as carrying the force of eternal death (Rom. 1:16-32; 1Cor. 6:1-10) even in the New Testament -- *after* Christ's Sacrifice was already given? The answer... Because Christ only fulfilled the Sacrificial Law -- not the Ten Commandment Law nor God's Statutes.

            Thus, since *all* of the Law [Torah] has *not* been fulfilled, that means *all* of the Law [Torah] is still binding upon *all* mankind. If you try to insist on anything less, then you have not received the love of the Truth.

    2Thes. 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

    2Thes. 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

    2Thes. 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

    God bless.IF the commandments were nailed to the cross like so many people say and we are no longer under the law, then?
    I suggest you read all of Galatians very carefully. When reading the Bible, one of the most important things is who is being addressed? When Jesus talks to the woman at the well, who is a Gentile, he speaks directly to Gentiles. And make no mistake, he does differentiate between Gentiles and Jews. That is the whole point of his telling her that it was not yet the time of the Gentiles. Much of the Bible is God talking directly to the Hebrews, the Jews.

    If you read the entire Bible, you will find that Jesus did, in fact, give a lot more commands than just the two that he called the most important.

    [Aside: It looks like someone with multiple accounts hit this question with their thumbs up and down.]
    Jesus said something like, I did not come to abolish the law but to uphold it... something like that.
    The ';philosophy';, ';empty deception';, and ';traditions of men'; were the ';decrees'; ';hostile'; to us nailed to the cross, NOT the Torah commandments (Law) of YHVH:

    Col 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. ...

    Col 2:14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

    The traditions of the Pharisees were against the people, hostile, made burdensome and binding upon the written Torah for them to observe:

    Mat 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

    Mat 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

    Mat 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

    Mark 7:6 And He said to them, ';Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, 'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.

    Mark 7:7 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'

    Mark 7:8 ';Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.';

    Mark 7:9 He was also saying to them, ';You nicely set aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition.

    They did not keep the Torah given through Moses, the servant of YHVH:

    John 7:19 ';Did not Moses give you the Law, and yet none of you carries out the Law? Why do you seek to kill Me?';

    God said the commandments of His Law are not too difficult to keep:

    Deu 30:11 ';For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach.

    The commandments of the Torah are NOT ';hostile'; toward us:

    Psa 119:165 Those who love Thy law have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble.

    Isa 42:21 The LORD was pleased for His righteousness' sake To make the law great and glorious.

    Psa 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Thy law is truth.

    1 Ki 2:3 ';And keep the charge of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to what is written in the law of Moses, that you may succeed in all that you do and wherever you turn,

    Even as ';strangers'; we are to ';hear, learn, fear YHVH, and observe'; the commandments of His Torah Law with all our heart and strength. Keeping them the best we can during our lifetime into His Kingdom and Temple to be restored through the Messiah:

    Deu 31:12 Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:

    John 14:15 ';If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
    I personally believe that the Mosaic laws were the ones nailed to the cross...not the 10 Commandments. For example: it makes sense that you wouldn't need to provide sacrifices anymore

    As for the 10 Commandments...that's a law God wrote Himself...but maybe this illustration might shed some light.

    All of God's laws are written in the minimum. Look at the physical laws. A stop is as slow as something can go, but how fast can not be measured. In temperature, there's absolute zero...there's no ceiling. And you can take almost every physical law the same way.

    Same with the 10 commandments...there's no limit on how much we can love God or each other. But the minimum is to not kill, steal, covet, or commit adultery.
    I have to say, I have never heard the term regarding the Commandments being nailed to the Cross used in the way that you may be interpreting. The Commandments, in the case of that saying, are Jesus Himself. The Commandments being God's Covenant with the Jews, and Jesus being the New Covenant. There should be nothing there that indicates we no longer need to follow the Commandments, and anyone who says so is misunderstanding the nature of Jesus Christ. Jesus repeated the Commandments, and even elaborated, if you will, on them in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). He even stated, in Matthew 5:17 ';Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish, but to fulfill.';

    Those who would say the Commandments are no longer applicable, are simply wrong. But I am not so sure that is what most of them are saying.
    the commandments jesus gave in the new testament not the law.

    Jesus stated many commands in the new testament that changed or altered old testament laws.

    Love thy neighbor vengeance is mine says the lord.

    there are many commands through the epistles paul wrote we are to obey as well. Commands which christians are to follow.

    The law convicts us of Sin it does not free us of Sin.

    Only salvation in Jesus saves us from Sin.

    You changed the verse in revelations

    it says his, jesus, commandments not the old testament law of commandments.

    Jesus taught and did many things that changed old testament laws.

    He honored the sabbath but it was done as rest for man not as the legal laws the jews added to what work was on the sabbath.
    The below Scripture tells every thing you need to know.

    Mark 12:28  ¶And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

    29  And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

    30  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

    31  And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
    We are still under the law of the ten commandments and all are to be obeyed. We now have the opportunity to receive grace in order to facilitate us to be able to obey them it is a matter of the heart. I assure you that if you obey the first commandment all the rest are easier to obey
    This was Jesus' answer to your question....in this passage he is speaking to the legalist of HIS day.....

    Matt 22:

    34 But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.

    35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying,

    36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

    37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[c]

    38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’[d]

    40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

    NOTE....verse 40. Jesus , himself said this.....

    There are over 630 commandments in the OT that the Jews were to keep, not just the 10.

    Legalists want that you should keep the 10...

    Jesus said TWO were the most important....keep them, you keep all the others....
    When the rich young man asked Jesus what he must do to be saved, the first thing Jesus told him was ';obey the Commandments';. Christians are not under the tenets of the Mosaic Law, but the 10 Commandments are universal. They apply to everyone.
    Re-read the New Testament: Jesus gave commandments as well.
    The New Testament repeats the commandments of the Old Testament, with the exception of those ceremonial laws, whose specific purpose was to make Israel separate from the nations (Gentiles), so that the light of the world (Jesus) could come through them

    Here's an example of where Jesus himself repeated some of the commandments.

    ';Matthew 19:16-19 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

    17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

    18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

    19 Honour thy father and [thy] mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.';

    There are over 1,000 commandments in the NT, so I can't give you the scripture here, but I'll link a page that does outline them.

    Edit: I'm amazed to see that there are so many people who don't know that the NT has any commandments in it.

    Would you want the gift of restoring sight to the blind raising the dead if it meant being nailed to a cross?

    How long would I have to stay nailed?

    I think I'd look kind of retro- trendy up on a cross.Would you want the gift of restoring sight to the blind raising the dead if it meant being nailed to a cross?
    You and every non-believer are the blind and Lord Christ was trying to bring the Kingdom of God to you, but you can not see it.Would you want the gift of restoring sight to the blind raising the dead if it meant being nailed to a cross?
    That would be wonderful, but if Jesus is God, then he knew he wasn't going to actually die. There has to be a risk of loss for it to be called a sacrifice.
    do you know the history of your profile name?
    no but i would think about it if it was a stake

    sorry if that goes over your head....go do some deep bible study then you should get it
    If it meant restoring ALL sight to EVERY blind person, then I would choose that option. Otherwise, I would bring back to life Martin Luther King Jr. as a sign of hope for our conflicting groups in the world.
    OK lets be honest i wouldn't want it, not even if you paid me.a small cut tends to freak people out, what more being nailed to a cross....................... but then again we are very lucky cause someone already did that for us.

    so my answer is NO,NO,NO

    hey in only human
    Everyone has a cross to bear..some heavier than others!

    What, exactly, is nailed to the cross in Colossians 2:14?

    What was hand written?

    Col 2:14

    (ASV) having blotted out the bond written in ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us: and he hath taken it out that way, nailing it to the cross;

    (BBE) Having put an end to the handwriting of the law which was against us, taking it out of the way by nailing it to his cross;

    (Darby) having effaced the handwriting in ordinances which stood out against us, which was contrary to us, he has taken it also out of the way, having nailed it to the cross;

    (ESV) by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

    (GNB) he canceled the unfavorable record of our debts with its binding rules and did away with it completely by nailing it to the cross.

    (ISV) having erased the charges that were brought against us with their decrees that were hostile to us. He took those charges away when he nailed them to the cross.

    (KJV) Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

    (KJV+) Blotting outG1813 theG3588 handwritingG5498 of ordinancesG1378 that was againstG2596 us,G2257 whichG3739 wasG2258 contraryG5227 to us,G2254 andG2532 tookG142 itG846 out ofG1537 theG3588 way,G3319 nailingG4338 itG846 to his cross;G4716

    (MKJV) blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.

    (WNT) The bond, with its requirements, which was in force against us and was hostile to us, He cancelled, and cleared it out of the way, nailing it to His Cross.

    (YLT) having blotted out the handwriting in the ordinances that is against us, that was contrary to us, and he hath taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross;What, exactly, is nailed to the cross in Colossians 2:14?
    Just exactly what it says, Yeshua died for our sins (the charges against us) thus the charges that should be nailed to our execution stake because we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God was put upon Yeshua in his death.

    If you will all remember the charges against Yeshua were nailed to his execution stake. It was a common practice.

    But it appears that many of you don't care a whit about cultural context but only want an excuse to continue in sin. I'd try reading Hebews 6 and 10 if I were you. And while your at it read Romans 6.

    If you continue in sin (breaking the law of God, which is what you do when you ignore the commandments saying they are nailed to the cross) you are not of Messiah. You will in that day be the ones saying Lord Lord we did all these things in your name and he will say to you away with you! I never knew you, You who practice Iniquity (breaking the law).

    Repent! The Kingdom of God is at hand!What, exactly, is nailed to the cross in Colossians 2:14?
    The 613 Laws of Moses.
    every knee will one day bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord of all the Earth, King of Heaven.......are you ready?
    the Law.
    our sins...
    No the last answer from meekanb is wrong. She is throwing out the baby witht the bathwater. Sacrifices are gone. NewTest. says do we make void the law God forbid we establish it. The law ';was'; (#1096 should be the word ';become'; ) not ';was'; become our schoolmaster. I dont have a thorough understanding but I am trying to find out the complete answer to, because God showed me in a vision, 10 second vision that there is something we are ';big time'; missing regarding the Law. I just quoted the New Test. Those verses show that you are still off somewhere. Jesus said I did not come to detroy the law but fulfill, 1 jot or 1 tittle....not pass till all be fulfilled or (#1096 to become again not fulfilled ) All become????? Why did Jesus have Jewish parents, (Jewish religion), he was taught all the Old Test. just like the Jews... I am still searching about all this diligently.
    If our hearts have been hardened, yea, if we have hardened our hearts against the word, insomuch that it has not been found in us, then will our state be awful, for then we shall be condemned.

    For our words will condemn us, yea, all our works will condemn us; we shall not be found spotless; and our thoughts will also condemn us; and in this awful state we shall not dare to look up to our God; and we would fain be glad if we could command the rocks and the mountains to fall upon us to hide us from his presence.
    Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

    It is commonly assumed that the ';handwriting of ordinances'; is the Old Testament law. The term handwriting is from the Greek cheirographon, which generally refers to a legal document or bond, and is used of a ';record book of sins'; in Jewish apocalyptic literature.

    The King James Version's ';handwriting of ordinances'; is an unfortunate translation. Modern English versions are better, and generally do not leave the impression that Paul is speaking of Old Testament laws. Notice how Colossians 2:13b,14 is rendered in the following modern English versions:

    The New Revised Standard Version: ';when he forgave us all our trespasses, erasing the record that stood against us with its legal demands. He set this aside, nailing it to the cross.';

    The New American Standard Bible: ';having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.';

    The New American Bible: ';having forgiven us all our transgressions; obliterating the bond against us, with its legal claims, which was opposed to us, he also removed it from our midst, nailing it to the cross.';

    The ';record,'; ';certificate of debt,'; or ';bond'; that was against us was not the Old Testament law; it was the record of our sins. When God forgives our sins, he erases the record completely.

    In verse 16, Paul mentions the Sabbaths and festivals, but he does not chastise the Colossians for keeping them. He simply admonishes them to allow no one to judge them in matters regarding eating and drinking or Sabbath or festival observance. This suggests that the Colossians were observing holy days, and someone was judging them for it.

    While many cite Colossians 2:16 as ';proof'; that the holy days were ';done away,'; at least a few evangelical scholars point out that the passage suggests that the Colossians were observing the holy days.

    One such scholar is Douglas R. De Lacey, Ph.D., of the University of Cambridge (Cambridge, England). De Lacey says, ';The 'judgment' seems to be criticism of the Christians' present practice, apparently of eating and drinking and enjoying Jewish festivals, in contrast to those whose watchword was 'do not handle, do not taste, do not even touch' (Col. 2:21)'; (Dictionary of Paul and His Letters, InterVarsity Press, 1993).

    The troublemakers were philosophers who claimed that one could obtain a higher level of spirituality or righteousness by practicing asceticism (';Touch not; taste not; handle not';verse 21). Paul says the philosophers' regulations are nothing more than the ';commandments and doctrines of men'; (verse 22).

    Given the nature of the problem, it is doubtful that the philosophers were judging the Colossians for keeping or not keeping Sabbaths and festivals. More likely, their judgment was based on how the Colossians kept the holy days. It seems that the joy, laughter, and pleasure of eating and drinkingall of which were abundant on holy dayswere not in agreement with the philosophers' ascetic views.

    By attaching man-made regulations to Christian fellowship and holy day observance, the philosophers were missing the purpose of the holy days. Holy days are not an end in themselves; they are a means to an end. As Paul says, they are a ';shadow of things to come,'; but Christ is the ';body'; that casts the shadow. Without the body (or ';substance';), the shadow is worth little. With the body, however, the shadow serves as a means of enhancing worship and increasing understanding and appreciation of Christ's redemptive work and God's plan for mankind.
    Colossians 2:14聽(Amplified Bible)

    14Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared [a]completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross.

    Colossians 2:14聽(New Living Translation)

    14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.聽

    Colossians 2:14聽(New King James Version)

    14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

    Colossians 2:14聽(The Message)

    聽11-15Entering into this fullness is not something you figure out or achieve. It's not a matter of being circumcised or keeping a long list of laws. No, you're already in鈥攊nsiders鈥攏ot through some secretive initiation rite but rather through what Christ has already gone through for you, destroying the power of sin. If it's an initiation ritual you're after, you've already been through it by submitting to baptism. Going under the water was a burial of your old life; coming up out of it was a resurrection, God raising you from the dead as he did Christ. When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive鈥攔ight along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ's cross. He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets.
    Legalism ( laws ) pertaining to the OC which includes the covenant sign that God made with the Israelites---the Israelites only.

    First, in order to learn what the Holy Bible teaches, one must read and study what the entire passage is about. Verse 14 is part of a sentence of v. 13.

    Read in order to understand:

    13 And you, being dead in your trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contraty to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. 16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival ot a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. (COLOSSIANS 2:13-17, NEW KING JAMES VERSION).

    20 Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations--- 21';Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,'; 22 which all concern things which perish with the using---according to the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 These things have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh. (COLOSSIANS 2:20-23, NEW KING JAMES VERSION).

    By knowing why Paul wrote the letter to the Colossians might by of some help for your understanding of this. Also, by taking particular notice of the word ';it'; in v. 15; the phrase: ';which were a shadow of things to come'; in v. 17; the word ';if'; in v. 20 and the word ';why'; in v. 20 also; the phrase ';do you subject yourselves to regulations'; in v. 20; v. 21 which is in quotation marks which represent things from the now void OC law; all of v, 22; the phrase: ';have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion,'; in v. 23; the word ';false'; in v. 23; and the phrase ';but are of no value'; in v. 23.

    This is not the only place that shows that Christians are not (never have been) under the OC and the laws within. Believers have been freed from such requirements and demands as COL. 2:11-23 explains. The new life and power of a believer comes from being ';in Christ'; and NOT from any OUTSIDE OBSERVANCES.

    Now, read and understand Hebrews 10:1-10.

    Take notice of v. 1 for you'll see something you read in Col 2:17.

    Also take extra special notice of Hebrews 10:8-10.

    8 Previously saying, ';Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them'; (which are offered according to the law), 9 then He said, ';Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.'; He takes away the first that He may establish the second. 10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. (HEBREWS 8:8-10, NEW KING JAMES VERSION).

    Praise God!!!!!!!!!!

    Re-read v.9!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re-read v. 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The writer of Hebrews (I believe was Paul) quoted Jeremiah in v v 16-17 concerning the New Covenant.

    31 Behold, the days are coming says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah---32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. 33 But this is covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they will be My people. 34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they all shall know Me, from the lest of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.'; (JEREMIAH 31:31-34, NEW KING JAMES VERSION).

    You see, God said He would make a new covenant with His people. Unlike the covenant at Sinai which demanded outward obedience to the old covenant and the external laws, this new covenant He said would consist of inward renewal, which would enable the people to live in a right covenantal relationship with Him. The New Covenant is internal, universal, and unconditional. ALL people have the opportunity for an intimate, personal relationship with the Lord. Connect this one prophecy with the NT. (IF you fully understand the NT and especially Hebrews, you'll understand that this New Covenant is for ALL people). A primary element of this New Covenant is forgiveness. NT writers find the fulfillment of this prophecy in Jesus Christ in Heb. 8:7-13. Jeremiah's prophecy is quoted again in Heb. 8:8-12.

    IF you truly desire to understand the New Covenant, read Heb. 8:7-13.

    13 In that He says, ';A new covenant,'; He has made the first obselete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. (Hebrews 8:13, NEW KING JAMES VERSION).
