For those that say the law was nailed to the cross please explain?

why those that keep the commandments are blessed AND have the right to eat from the tree of life.

Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Rev 22:14

if we do not have to keep the law of God then this verse would not apply

What are you thoughts? For those that say the law was nailed to the cross please explain?
Hi Larina,

I don't believe the Law of God was nailed to the Cross. Jesus did not come to destroy the Law but to fufill it. He fulfilled the Law by living a perfect life of obedience. The Law of God is a transcript of his character. Jesus said in John 14:15 ';If you love me keep my commandments.'; In other words Christ was declaring that those who love him will obey his word. They will keep his Commanments. The Apostle Paul says that the Law of God is holy, just and good. (Romans 7:12).

John in the book of Revelation said of the Law in Revelation 12:17 that the saints will be those who keep his Commandments.

Have faith dear friends in God.

Good questionFor those that say the law was nailed to the cross please explain?
The commandments are a picture of God's person, his righteousness. God became a man name Jesus. So let me ask you this, would you rather have a picture of someone, or actually have that someone with you.

Let the lord live and operate in you and his nature will operate in you.
Hi there. First you have to understand what law was nailed to the cross /done away with. The law(s) in question is the law(s) concerning blood sacrifices for the remission of sins. The reason the law(s) were done away with is because Christ became our blood sacrifice for the remission of sin for one and all times. As God once said , '; I don't want your burnt offerings, I want your love (and obedience). God also said ';if you love me you will keep my commandments'; .
There was only one who kept the whole law and that was Jesus Christ. We still are to honor the law, but God saw, from the time of Adam, that we would not be able to hold to it.

';All we like sheep have gone astray';. All is a pretty inclusive term.
Jesus spoke the law, and he was nail to the cross.
Jesus said he came to fulfill the Law not destroy it.
Yeah, I've always heard that He came to fulfill the law. However, the OT law does not apply to us; it was placed there so the Israelites would see the holiness of God. They fell short (obviously) and so offered sacrifices. (notice the plural). We fall short; but because Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. He paid for all our sin, no more yearly, montly, or weekly sacrifices for us; we only have to accept His gift. I believe this passage in Revelation is referring to commandments that God gave to us to follow (not the OT law) For instance, it talks about in I John; that if we love Him we will obey Him. Thus, Blessed are they that have obeyed (and thus loved Him, thus accepted His gift)...that they may have right to the tree of life...

Reminder: It's not the works we do, but the magnificent love Christ showed to us on the cross; His work that saves us.

(These are just my thoughts, hope it helps)
youre correct..we are daily striving for perfection.
The key to understanding this issue is knowing that the Old Testament law was given to the nation of Israel, not to Christians. Some of the laws were to make the Israelites know how to obey and please God (the Ten Commandments for example), some of them were to show them how to worship God (the sacrificial system), some of them were to simply make the Israelites different from other nations (the food and clothing rules). None of the Old Testament law applies to us today. When Jesus died on the cross, He put an end to the Old Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15).

In place of the Old Testament law, we are under the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2) which is to, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:37-40). If we do these two things, we will be fulfilling all that Christ wants for us to do, “This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3). Technically, the Ten Commandments are not even applicable to Christians. However, 9 of the Ten Commandments are repeated in the New Testament (all except the command to observe the Sabbath day). Obviously, if we are loving God we won't be worshipping other gods or worshipping idols. If we are loving our neighbors, we won't be murdering them, lying to them, committing adultery against them, or coveting what belongs to them. So, we are not under any of the requirements of the Old Testament law. We are to love God and love our neighbors. If we do those two things faithfully, everything else will fall into place.

law was not nailed to the cross. i hear that alot myself and you couldnt be more wrong saying that. the ten commandments and all other laws of the ot still apply with the exception of only one. the only law that changed was the law of blood sacrifice for the atonement of sin. jesus became the sacrifice and therfore it is no longer necessary. other than that nothing changed
I think you are correct.
i suggest you read eclesiastes the resident biblical athiest for your answer particularly his advice to youth
Never heard that, Jesus said He did not come to do away with the law but to fill the law.
~.^

jesus didnt change the law or create the law.

otherwise they would have to admit their god is a changing god.
