Which bird reputedly pulled the nails out of Jesus on the cross?

Sounds like the B.S. Catholic bird.First he pulled out the nails then he flew down and grab Veronica's cloth and then St. Christopher helped him across the river. And then Martin de Porres whacked him with his broom.
I imagine it would have had to be one with a very strong beak and a lot of determination.

I heard a story once that it a robin, trying to alleviate some of Christ's pain, plucked a thorn from the crown of thorns, and the breast of the bird was then stained with Christ's blood. This is why the robin has a reddish color to the feathers on its breast. At least, that's the legend I heard.
I'm guessing a raven, mainly because they are the devil's bird, and they are large enough. that or doves, releasing him from suffering because they are to birds of god. either ravens or doves
This actually never happened.

There was a raven that attacked one of the thieves hanging next to him.
a crow
Never heard that one...
Which book did you find this quote in? Had to be satanic or worse... God made birds too remember!
