Why was Christ nailed to the cross instead of roped to it as was the customary method of execution?

That's how his daddy wanted him to go.Why was Christ nailed to the cross instead of roped to it as was the customary method of execution?
What makes you think that ';roped'; was the customary form of execution? The few crucifixion victims that have been discovered were nailed to their crosses. Why was Christ nailed to the cross instead of roped to it as was the customary method of execution?
I really didn't find much reliable info on crucifixion, but I did find this really cool guitar: http://www.abyssguitars.com/crucifixion.鈥?/a>
He was bound by ropes, but also nailed as a form of punishment.
Extra humiliation and punishment. The Romans hadn't been able to get him on his first charge (heresy), so they really went all out with the charge he was convicted of (treason). It was meant to distinguish Christ from the others who were also being killed.
Actually, both (and several other) methods were used.

Archaeological evidence indicates that the nailing of the feet would be more than enough to support the body, as well as make it excruciatingly painful to do so.

Meanwhile, since the body weight is supported by the feet, the nails in the palms of the hands become not only possible, but pure torture as well, since only ropes around the wrist would be required to hold the body in place.

Leave it to the Romans to do anything they possibly could to make execution as painful as possible.
Actually The Worst Exectuion At That Time Was The Cross It Was The Most Painful Death Someone Could Endure If Chirst Was Roped He Wouldn't Have Completed Prophesy In The Old Testiment The Would Beat You Then Make You Walk In A Circle With Your Cross The When It Was Dawn Make You Walk To Calvary Where they Nailed You To The Cross By This Time Your Already Exhausted and The Way They Dies Was Your Lugngs Giving Out Or You Expire pretty much Crucifixion Could Take Days to Weeks Roped Would Be A Less painful Death at the time Crucifixon Goes Down For The Worst Death Ever
Really dumb question did the Romans actually have nails to use ?

To crucify a 150 lb person you would need at least a 20 penny nail and a 40 penny would be better.

The nails would have been made of what hand forged iron ? Bronze wouldn't work

Hmmm
The writers decided to make the story more dramatic.
This was on account of the invention, by Smartus Arsus, of the nail gun. Later crucifixions were carried out using No. 2 posi drive screws following the invention of the battery drill by Boschus Bodgeus.
Can you prove it was one way or the other?
who said that it was custom to be roped to it? prove it.I can prove through thousands of written historical documents that crucifixtion was exactly the way Christ died.
Whatever the answer, wouldn't we have to go on faith to believe it? Is this a trick question? ...hmmm!
The extra brutality was because he said that he was sent by God. The authorities were totally out to shame him as well as kill him.
Cause The Romans Really hated him cause he was spreading teachings of love, claiming to be a manifestation of god, and posed a political threat to the established oligarchies.
to give more suffering. The whole idea behind his crucifixion is that his suffering is a way of giving repentance to all the people, future and past. As the Nicene Creed says:

';was crucified also for -us- under Pontius Pilate';
Humiliation and pain. Pretty good stuff as far as torture goes.
This has been a question which has puzzled theologians and historians for some time.. In fact I read a long time ago that experiments had been conducted: because nails would not hold a person up there without a support rope.. Maybe another poster will have the article link to provide on this..
